Criteria
We cannot accept postal entries. Only films submitted via our online entry system will be accepted. There are 2 main ways to submit your film, one is to export and compress your film for upload via our website or for filmakers to upload their video to YouTube or another recognised online video sharing service and provide us with a link to their work. If the film or animation is hosted on their own website, entrants are welcome to submit this URL instead.
Northern Futures Film category is open to films of all production techniques, including animation, documentary, drama, experimental or artist film but excepting advertising.
Films or Animations must be made in the North of England or by a Northern Director or Producer. The purpose of Northern Futures Film is to showcase new Northern filmmakers, so we regret we cannot accept submissions from wider UK applicants.

This should be prepared in advance and pasted in to the appropriate box during the submission process. The rationale should include details of any original brief or commission, processes used, any tools or techniques employed and any appropriate explanation of the work. This rationale is important as it will allow the judging panel to understand fully the aims and purpose of the work. It should also include details of previous screenings of the work. Applicants are encouraged to present this information clearly and concisely in no more than 250 words.
Submission
We accept the following submission methods formats (in no particular order): Maximum file size to be uploaded 10mb
REMINDER: When exporting, please make sure your compressed version is good enough quality for us to judge it. As a rough guideline it should not be smaller than 320x240 pixels, and not less than 15fps.
